4worldlovers: The campaign for the German Pavilion of the 52. Venice Biennale illustrates specific excerpts of Venice, similar to Isa Genzken’s artistic style in her installation “Oil”. The geometrically constructed letter takes up the history of graphic images — from the first documenta in 1955 to documenta X in 1997. Historical photographs of the major international exhibition are used, which are given a common identifying mark in the form of the “d”. The resulting surfaces are overprinted with colours that also go back to historical originals. The form and colours pay tribute to the visual diversity of the graphic design of the international exhibition.
